These “torpedos” are why Sierra Nevada calls their dry hopped IPA – TORPEDO. These tanks allow fermenting beer to be circulated through whole-cone hops infusing the beer with that extra hop flavor (and no extra bitterness). Per their website, the experts at Sierra Nevada “can control what types of flavors and aromas we extract from the hops and how those aromas will appear in the finished beer.” This is true beer ingenuity.
