Big knews, Beerknurds! The DFW Airport Flying Saucer is now open and in flight! Phase 1, at least.
You can find this shiny, new spacecraft full of craft beer in Terminal D, Gate 18.
There, you will have your choice from an overwhelming FOUR taps of delicious craft beer – hand-selected by Flying Saucer Beer Director, Marc Castaldo. Plus, SIX craft options in bottles or cans. Yes. We started that out as good-natured sarcasm about how “tough” a job Marc has. However, the more we thought about it — given the current limitations of just four taps — how does one choose what FOUR beers make the cut from an entire universe of amazing craft beer?
“These initial four draft beers represent a balanced, cross-section of the craft beer community. They include pioneer breweries Sierra Nevada (Pale Ale) and Stone (IPA), alongside Texas favorite Real Ale Fireman’s #4 and North Texas’ popular stout, Lakewood Temptress.” said Castaldo. “As for the bottles and cans: Bell’s Two-Hearted is considered a benchmark IPA, Billy Jenkins comes from Fort Worth’s Wild Acre, Bishop Cider’s Crackberry is a Dallas favorite. Rounding out the selection are Saint Arnold’s Fancy Lawnmower, Firestone Walker Lager, and New Hollad Dragon’s Milk.” So, there you go. Just like at any Flying Saucer, something for every craft beer lover from breweries carrying the banner for craft beer.
Keep in mind that this is only PHASE 1 of the DFW Airport Flying Saucer. But set phasers to stun when Phase 2 is completed! Phase 2 will see an additional 36 draft options and an estimated 40 more packaged selections. Additionally, live music will be bumping from one of the two floors. That’s right – this motha is a two-story ship!
Existing Beerknurds will be able to scan their UFO Club cards to get their daily three on their account. And non-Beerknurds can sign up for a special DFW Flying Saucer UFO account. Complete with a special DFW Flying Saucer UFO Club Card. So, make sure that any traveling you do goes through DFW Airport, because regardless of your Terminal, you can access Terminal D via the Skylink Monorail.
And, of course, food is available. A simple-but-delicious food menu that includes breakfast options until 10:30AM will keep your belly pleased before you fly.
So, hit up our beautiful new ship, and let us know what you think!
Cheers!
