Victory Brewing Bill Covaleski Flying Saucer Charlotte

Cheers to Victory Brewing with Charlotte GM Erik Hodgeman

When I started in the craft beer industry with Flying Saucer 14 years ago, I had no idea the depth of knowledge that would come along with it.

Hundreds of tap takeovers, brewer’s tables and meet and greets later, I had the privilege of celebrating Victory Brewing Company’s 20th anniversary with owner and brewmaster Bill Covaleski. We tapped up 10 different Victory beers, from the sessionable Prima Pils to the 14.3% ABV Java Cask Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout.

I’ve had the honor of meeting many owners, brewmasters and great beer people throughout the years, but I have to say, without a doubt, that having a pint with Bill takes the cake. Being able to hear first-hand insight on their merger with Southern Tier and why it makes sense — you just can’t get that from reading an article. Stories of Bill’s growth and education in the beer industry are an inspiration.

We’ve been partners with Victory Brewing Company for a long time and plan to continue that relationship for years to come — from the beers available year-round, such as HopDevil IPA, Golden Monkey and Headwaters Pale Ale, to the sought-after seasonal offerings of Kirsch Gose, Harvest Ale and, my personal favorite, Festbier.

So, next time you’re looking for a new six-pack or can’t figure out which beer to order, might I suggest something from our friends in Pennsylvania?
