The Flying Saucer family is very proud to donate over $48,500 to Kids’ Meals, Inc. thanks to the amazing generosity of you incredible Beerknurds! Kids’ Meals, Inc., a Houston charity aimed at “fighting childhood hunger right at the their doorsteps”, delivers meals to Houston’s hungry preschool-aged children. They are some of the hardworking, goodhearted folks who are striving to make sure Houston continues its Hurricane Harvey recovery.
In the days following Hurricane Harvey, Beerknurds in Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina went to work donating to the Flying Saucer Hurricane Harvey Relief Drive. Beerknurds could contribute by doing anything from buying raffle tickets for prizes to ordering special beers whose proceeds would go towards the cause. Turns out you all really enjoy helping out — and beer! Once the efforts were wrapped, the Flying Saucer crew went to work looking for an organization where the funds would do the most good and make the biggest impact. Kids’ Meals, Inc.
Flying Saucer Owner Shannon Wynne and Houston Flying Saucer GM Asa Hanrahan made a special trip to Kids’ Meals, Inc., to hand-deliver a check for $48,536.50. It was an unforgettable moment for Wynne, Hanrahan, Beth Harp (Kids’ Meals Executive Director) and Cynthia Stielow (Kids’ Meals Director of Development).
There’s still so much we can all do to help the Houston area where there are still folks trying to recover from the damage inflicted by Hurricane Harvey. For info on how to help Kids’ Meals specifically, visit their website: kidsmealshouston.org/
Thank you so much, again, to you Beerknurds for helping us donate to this particular Houston charity. We’d also like to thank our brewery and distributor partners for all you did in giving us and the Beerknurds the opportunity to assist those in need. This was a joint effort of love all around.
Cheers to you all!
